Beaulieu Stationary Engine Weekend 4th/5th July 2015
by Mark Tewkesbury
Organised by the Barnes brothers, this event is in its 3rd year at Beaulieu and follows on from their successful Stapehill and Honeybrook Farm shows. I have attended each one at Beaulieu, firstly as a visitor and latterly as an exhibitor. The first year was a great show, last year was slightly down on numbers so I wondered what might happen this year.
With the special display of Hornsby and Ruston engines I need not have worried. I was greeted on the Friday by a long line of both pre and post amalgamation engines. The Hornsby’s lined up in their own pen and the Ruston’s facing them in the next one. In fact there were so many Ruston’s that the overflow, including my own, had to be in the next row.
We had a good SEAMS contingent there with Richard Amos, Colin and Bill in the Ruston line up and Alan & Sue Goodchild with Graham & Haley Barnett and John in the general engine pen. An excellent weekend with a great atmosphere and evening entertainment too.
