SEAMS at Parham 2024 by Steve Rowland
I was very pleased to be invited back to the Parham Steam Rally on the weekend of the 13th and 14th of July. Phil Sampson (Ian Sampson’s son) and I went to the site on the Thursday before to set up the Engine pen. We were greeted and were able to set up on the same spot as last year which was ideal, having our vehicles a few strides away, Phil also attended on the Friday, and he was camping which is a very good area over the back of the engine pen. The pen was set up in the U shape format that works well with the SEAMS banner hopefully drawing people in. There were about 16 engines on display which filled the pen. We were blessed with the weather as the forecast for the week before was not very pleasant , On the Saturday it held out until about 4.30pm which then gave us a short shower which lasted about half an hour then came out fine again. Sunday was a very nice day; there were lots of people attending on both days and we like to give special thanks to Anne Whittingstall for making us feel most welcome and we are looking forward to next year. I have shown some pictures on the exhibits, they are Derek Funnels Open crank Amanco, Brian Charman with his Wolsey and sheep sheering set, Peter Van Den Dyck who attracted a lot of interest with his Lister and kindling machine, John Peters exhibited his “Mogul” and hardy pump, James Skinners Lister H type of 1913, Andrew Skinners Lister F and generator , along with a lister D and generator, Nathan Collins had a Lister A and a suction milking pump, Phil and Rowan Sampson Lister A, a corn mill and lister D and water pump, respectively, Guy Taylor showed his Mc Cormick Deering int 1.5hp and I had my Stover KE 1921 and corn mill. |
