Date: 27th October 2018
Venue: Swindon Railway Museum
‘STEAM’ – the Museum of the Great Western Railway – is housed in a beautifully restored Grade 11 building in the heart of the former Swindon Railway Works. This Museum tells the fascinating story of the men and women who built, operated and travelled on the Great Western Railway. The story is brought to life in rare archive films, stories of ex-railway workers, hand -on displays, famous locomotives and GWR memorabilia. Many of the staff are former railway employees. You may also wish to visit the shopping outlet which is next door.
For refreshments be sure to take a well earned break at the Platform One Café where you’ll find a whole range of hot and cold snacks and meals – from toasted sandwiches, speciality pies, sausages and chips and salads, to pastries, ice creams and home-made cakes.
Coach travel including museum entrance fee is £32. As with previous SEAMS excursions, your booking will only be confirmed on full receipt of the money.
