West Grinstead Countryside Show

Held once again at St Georges Parish Church, and this year rather fittingly on St Georges Day itself, this show has over the last few years been supported by SEAMS members.

With all the wet weather, I think a few of us had anticipated a call from John & Maureen to say the show was cancelled, but instead we received a call to say it was on! Surprisingly the field was quite hard under foot. Unfortunately the day decided to change with it being very cold, given the pleasant weather during the previous week.

The line up on the Saturday included a large Allan Oil Engine, Several Lister A types ranging from the 20’s to the 60’s in age, an Onan military generating set, several American open crank engines and a French Conord. There was also a solitary Ferguson Tractor on display.

We had a good day, looking round the stalls, some brave ones venturing off on a Tractor ride and plenty of cake to enjoy courtesy of and thanks to Maureen.

All the engines behaved and all to soon it was time to pack away and head home to the warmth. I gather the Sunday went just as well with a few different faces showing their engines. A worthy cause and a good start to the year, thanks to John & Maureen.
