Kingsley Charity Christmas Crank Up

Held between Christmas and the New Year, this event is hosted by Tony and Sylvia Haydon over at the Kingsley Golf Course. It is by invitation only as space is limited, so it was a great pleasure to receive an invite this year. The day itself was crisp and clear, one of those lovely Winter days but unfortunately there was a mild breeze which didn’t help the temperature! A good run along the Hogs Back saw us arrive at our destination in good time and ending up next to another fellow Horsham area engineman, its a small world. A few more arrived but there were apparently a few ‘no shows’ so we ended up with a good dozen engines ranging from Stuart P4’s to Tony’s 4hp Bamfords open crank. The golf course is undergoing refurbishment at the moment so we had exclusive use of the clubhouse. The owners had put on soup and hot drinks and there was a nice log fire burning to help take away the cold. A good raffle held in the

afternoon raised a healthy sum of money for the Macmillan charity. All in all a good day out and worth supporting. I suggest you ask Tony for an invite this year or pop along and support it as a visitor, you will be made most welcome.
